Getting Started
1. Set Up Your Google Sheets™ Template
Start by making a copy of our Lightning BD template:

The app will guide you through connecting your Gmail account securely. We only request the minimum permissions needed to send emails on your behalf.
3. Import Your Contacts
Add your contact information to the "Contacts" sheet. Required columns include:
- Email: Contact's email address
- First Name: For personalization
- Company: Contact's company name
- Status: Leave blank initially (app will update)

What permissions does Lightning BD need?
Lightning BD requests the following Google OAuth scopes:
- Google Sheets™: To read your contact data and update email status
- Gmail Send: To send personalized emails from your account
- Google Drive (Read-only): To list and select your Google Sheets™ files
Is my data secure?
Yes. Lightning BD:
- Only accesses the Google Sheets™ files you explicitly select
- Never stores your contact data on our servers
- Uses secure OAuth authentication
- Follows Google's security best practices
How does email tracking work?
When you send emails through Lightning BD, the app automatically updates your Google Sheets™ with:
- Email status (Sent, Failed)
- Date sent
- Template used
- Gmail thread ID for reference
Can I customize email templates?
Absolutely! Edit the templates in the "Setup" sheet of your Lightning BD Google Sheets™ template. You can:
- Modify existing templates
- Add new templates
- Use variables like {firstName}, {company}, etc. for personalization
What if I encounter an error?
If you experience any issues:
- Check that your Google Sheets™ template has the correct column headers
- Ensure your Gmail account is properly connected
- Verify that email addresses are valid
- Contact us at keys@keys-marketing.com with details about the error
Troubleshooting
App Won't Connect to Google
If you're having trouble connecting your Google account:
- Make sure you're using the same Google account for both Sheets and Gmail
- Clear your browser cache and try again
- Disable any browser extensions that might block OAuth
- Try using an incognito/private browser window
Emails Not Sending
If emails aren't being sent:
- Check that email addresses are properly formatted
- Verify your Gmail account has sending permissions
- Ensure you haven't exceeded Gmail's daily sending limits
- Check that required contact fields (email, firstName) are filled
Can't See My Google Sheets™
If your sheets aren't appearing in the app:
- Make sure the sheet is accessible to your connected Google account
- Check that the sheet has the correct Lightning BD template structure
- Try refreshing the app or logging out and back in
